Sarah Kammerer is an advisor, organizer, and photographer whose career has spanned politics, nonprofits, and public health. Sarah serves as the Chair of the 001 District Council, a newly created elected position that aims to build transparency, trust and accountability between the police and the community. Additionally, she is a strategy and planning consultant and a photographer. As a 2012 Fulbright Scholar to India, and in partnership with Ekjut India, she piloted a participatory learning and action program with women in rural tribal communities to address negative maternal and child health outcomes.

Sarah began her career working in the US Congress, on Mitt Romney’s 2008 presidential campaign, and as an analyst focused at the state and federal level including health care reform efforts and Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympics. Other notable positions include serving as the Director of Growth and Engagement at The People's Music School and as the Digital Learning Program Officer at the Susan Crown Exchange.

She received her MPH from the University of Illinois in Chicago and her BA in political science from Virginia Tech, where she was a scholarship athlete on the women’s varsity soccer team. Sarah serves on the advisory council for The Chicago Brewseum and New Politics, and is on the leadership council for ProPublica. She is the the co-founder of ChiWomenVote and IllinoisWomenVote, and the publisher of the Jobs/Events/Reads newsletter. Her work has been published in Huffington Post, Today's Chicago Woman, and the Gates Foundation. Sarah is an avid cyclist and is slowly learning Italian. Piano piano.
